EDITORIAL: LEE VALLEY REGIONAL PARK
The great outdoors
If you want to get the kids out of the house and are looking for something that's fun, interesting and educational, Lee Valley Park Farms in Waltham Abbey has all of this and more!
Situated in 490 acres Lee Valley Park Farms offers a fantastic visitor experience. You can get up close to rare breed pigs, sheep, rabbits, reptiles and Llamas. Visit the milking parlour and learn about the milking process, explore Cavie Canyon and get active in the soft play Bundle Barn and Piglet's Paradise play area. After all that, relax in the Orchard Cafe where freshly prepared food is served all day.
The Farms are right on the doorstep to a range of award-winning riverside trails, open spaces, heritage sites and sports venues. As part of Lee Valley Regional Park you are only a stones throw away from discovering something new. Experience the panoramic views of Clayton Hill, the woodland of Rushey Mead and the reed beds of Seventy Acres Lake. You may be lucky enough to see a water vole or an otter, or spot the dragonflies and damselflies hovering over head. There are many bird hides situated throughout the Park and you might catch a glimpse of the elusive Bittern from the Bittern Information Point bird hide at Fishers Green.
Lee Valley Regional Park offers a fun, free way for the whole family to get active. Grab your bikes and go for a cycle or take a walk and see what wildlife you can spot. When children have the opportunity to connect with nature they are happier and healthier which enhances their learning and development.
Over 300 events take place throughout the Regional Park each year from guided walks to pony rides, outdoor theatre to 10k runs. Whether you're looking to take the family out for the day or to learn more about your local history and wildlife, there's something for everyone.
Just a stone's throw from London, Lee Valley Regional Park is easily accessible by the M11 and M25, by train, bus and underground.
